People use the site to stay in touch with friends and to make new friends.  They exchange messages, write blogs, post pictures and basically project themselves onto the World Wide Web.  It’s where people meet, and where people meet, they can fall in love.

Houma local, Michael Ferguson, has written a book, My Space/Her Space: Love found on the Pages of MySpace.  His book tells the story of love found on the internet.  “It’s a bit autobiographical, but mostly I went off of inspiration,” Michael says.

In 2007 Michael and his high school sweetheart were divorced.  It was then that Michael ran into an old high school friend who recommended that he join MySpace.  Michael took that advice and set up his profile on Myspace, then he began writing blogs.  Blogs can be anything from a personal diary to a person’s stance on a particular subject.  It’s basically anything that a person wants to write about.  Michael wrote about love. 

“I guess I wrote about what was missing in my life and about what I wanted.  I just wrote.”  Michael says that the responses to his blogs surprised him.  “I was getting a lot of attention and some absolutely amazing responses to my blogs.  Some of the messages that I got about my blogs made me realize that I was onto something big.”

Michael says that the passion readers showed regarding his blogs made him realize that he needed to turn his blogs into a book.  “I have always worked off of inspiration, and the responses I was getting to my blogs stimulated my passions even further.” 

Michael says that whether it has been writing music, poetry or manuscripts, he has always used the passion and inspiration he gets from others to create his best work.  “I developed relationships with some people on MySpace and was charged with emotion.  I used that emotion in my writing.  I think you can tell from the words in my book.” 

Michael’s book is definitely a modern romance, both in how the characters meet, and in the level of eroticism expressed.  “From the responses to my blogs on MySpace I learned a lot about the opposite sex.  I use to believe that the women were a bit more reserved, but I was wrong.  Their feedback was instrumental to my writing style.” 

While Michael’s writing style did take on an erotic nature, no doubt exists that love is at the core of his MySpace Romance.  Michael explains, “This is a story about meeting your soulmate.  It’s a story about two hearts that truly become one.”

This Houma native says that he plans on continuing his writing career and that in doing so, he will be continuing to follow his dream.  “I have always loved to write, and I guess I always will.”  And when asked if he’ll continue to write Romance, Michael says, “I write what I feel.  How could I not write about love?”

Where Artists Live    

 Where do you locate yourself when you’re an artist or a writer and you want to be filled with inspiration?  Do you go to an exotic island far away?  Do you find a mountain retreat way back in the woods?  Or do you do what Michael Ferguson, author of My Space Her Space: Love Found on the Pages of Myspace, did, move to the Emerald coast?

 “This is paradise.  This is inspirational,” Michael says of his new home.  “I am completely in love with everything about the Emerald coast.”

 Michael has long claimed this area as his home away from home, but only recently made it his permanent place of residence.  “The time was just right in my life,” the budding author says.

When asked exactly what it was that made Michael decide to make this area his new home, his response was, “Where do I begin?” 

Names of restaurants rolled off of his tongue, his favorite nightspots, the endless attractions, and he also mentioned the people.  “The people here are great.  The spirit and the vibe seem to permeate everything.”

Michael says that his new Romance is selling well, and says that he expects life on the Emerald coast to inspire future bestsellers.  “This part of the country fills me with passion and writing just so happens to be where I pour out those emotions.”

Michael feels privileged to be living here and thanks everyone who has made him feel so at home.  “Everywhere I go it seems that I meet someone new and interesting.  Florida is a melting pot and I love the result here along the Emerald coast.”

Just what the inspiration of the Emerald coast will do for Michael and his next book is a mystery, but this summer we are sure to see “My Space Her Space” under beach umbrellas everywhere.  And without a doubt we agree with Michael that when picking a place to live an inspired life, one need look no further than the beautiful Emerald coast.

The Internet has changed everything.  Personal computers are no longer just glorified typewriters; they are a means to connect to the world.  People shop on the Net, do research, explore, keep in touch with old friends and make new ones.  Many web sites have become synonymous with the Net and are household names.  One of those that have reached that level of popularity is the social networking site, MySpace.

MySpace began as a small networking site that allowed people to post their personal profiles and to interact with others.  It has successfully grown to become a global phenomenon where people from far and wide can meet.  And where people can meet, people can fall in love.

Michael Ferguson, author of ‘My Space Her Space’, tells that story, the story of love found on MySpace.  “I have never had more fun,” Michael says about his experience writing the steamy Romance Novel.

“In the same way someone watches a movie and is totally fixated on the screen, not knowing what will happen next, that was how I wrote this story.  I never knew what would happen next, but as my fingers flew across the keyboard, faster and faster, I found the story, and I found love.”

Michael discovered MySpace after a friend recommended that he try the site.  “In the book I write about meeting up with an old friend and telling him about my divorce.  He immediately recommended that I go onto MySpace.  I was hearing about MySpace everywhere, I just didn’t know what it was all about.”  Michael soon learned first-hand what the social networking site was all about.

The author logged onto MySpace, created a personal profile, and the journey began.  “I loved the idea of it.  The Internet in itself is a fascinating tool, but MySpace captured a means to find and communicate with people from all over the world, and I found the results simply amazing.”

Michael searched for and found people who interested him and he developed some nice friendships.  Michael did something else on MySpace, he posted blogs.  Blogs can be about anything someone wants to write about.  Following his divorce, Michael wrote about what he missed and what he longed for most in his life—love.

The author says that the relationships he developed on MySpace inspired him to write in the passionate way that he did.  He wrote, in vivid detail, about meeting his soulmate and about the passionate love affair that would follow.  “The feedback I received from my blogs was phenomenal.  I was amazed at the reaction.  Women were writing and asking me for more, and they wanted it hot.  I was surprised.  I just never knew,” Michael says, referring to the steamy side of Romance that so many women like to read.

“I had a lot of people telling me that they had never heard anyone describe a woman the way I did.  I wrote as if I were deeply in love.  I was.”  Michael’s book reads like an autobiography, and in many ways it is, but it also deviates from reality, and crosses into a world of fantasy. 

“I was inspired.  I had longings, desires, needs, and some of my friends on MySpace filled those voids for me.  They inspired me.  They gave me a vision.”  And Michael’s vision came alive in his words.

“I lived through my words.  I looked forward to what was coming next, and I fell in love.”  Michael says that it wasn’t a singular person specifically that he fell in love with, but that it was the idea of love that inspired him.  “I had friends on MySpace, beautiful woman, special in many ways.  Our discussions and messages were good for me.  They helped me to see what was possible.  They helped me to form a vision, and to realize that if I wanted to fulfill that vision, then I had to become the best person that I could possibly become.  And that’s what I did.  I’ve been leading an inspired life ever since.”

Michael says that as he wrote, he evolved as a person and became more spiritually connected, on a deeper level with life.  He says that he lived through the relationship that his characters discovered and his life is better because of it.     

“I grew.  The range of emotions I experienced and the love that I felt in my heart was real.  The book was my life, and I lived it.”

Michael says that his life has changed in immeasurable ways following his latest writing experience, ‘My Space Her Space’.  MySpace has changed the way many people view their computers and what is possible over the Internet.  And it has changed an author, Michael Ferguson, who will never quite look at love the same way.

Born on the Bayou

In 1991 Nicholls State University had a graduate named Michael Ferguson.  Michael was like most other college graduates.  He hoped to get a good job and build a solid future.  Michael married his high school sweetheart after both graduated from NSU and they remained together until late 2006 when the two parted ways.

That’s when Michael’s path crossed with what has become a familiar fixture in today’s world, MySpace.  Michael found MySpace and in finding it, he found his calling.  “I’d been hearing about MySpace everywhere, but I had no clue what it was until I ran into an old buddy.  He told me all about it and I was on my way.”

It was then that Michael created his MySpace profile and soon began writing blogs.  “I longed for a connection and for something that was absent in my life, love.”  Michael says that he wrote about his feelings and about wanting, like all of us do, to find true love.  The responses to his blogs are what set Michael on his current path.

“I wrote a book about my experiences on Myspace.  I wrote about love.”  Now Michael is author of a book entitled, My Space Her Space: Love Found on the Pages of MySpace.  Michael’s book is available on his website, MyspaceHerspace.com, through Amazon.com and is available for order at bookstores everywhere.

A Passionate Fan Goes to Great Lengths

Every Author needs a readership if they expect to put food on the table, but beyond that, the joy of knowing your work is appreciated is payment in itself.  Michael Ferguson, Author of My Space Her Space- Love Found in the Pages of MySpace, expected success, but he could have never expected some of the reactions he’s gotten regarding his book.  “It’s been incredible.  The feedback warms my heart and validates the passion that I put into the book,” says the Romance Writer.

Aside from the compliments Michael has received, the response from one reader eclipses all else.  “She’s started a campaign,” Michael says about one particular reader.  “She is taking my book on a tour and calling it, ‘The Adventure of the MySpace Book’.”

Beth Tucker bought Michael’s book from Amazon and was immediately hooked.  “I fell in love with the cover but when I opened the book, I opened myself up to a new level of passion.  It was incredible.  I couldn’t put it down.”  

The book business can be tough, with often the only top sellers coming from the big publishing companies.  Knowing Michael’s quest to succeed without a big publisher and believing that what she was reading was something very special, Beth decided to take things into her own hands.  “I decided to do every thing I could to help Michael’s book.  It’s an amazing read and I am sharing it with everyone.  And everyone’s thanking me for sharing.” 

Beth came up with a unique way to showcase the book.  She began taking pictures of the book in varied surroundings and has accumulated quite a portfolio.  Michael’s book has been to Wal-Mart, Starbucks, alongside a Blue Angels airplane, in the paw of the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars mascot and in the hand of readers with whom Beth has shared the book.  It’s been an astounding journey and there seems no end in sight. 

“I believe in this book and I will even mail it to people who will take pictures of it and return it through the mail.  I want the book to be everywhere.  I’ll bet Michael never imagined the journey his book would take,” the Romance reader said with a smile.

Michael says he’s living vicariously through his book.  “I wish I could travel where it’s going.  It’s everywhere.  But I think I’ll be most jealous if it ends up in some place like Hawaii without me,” Michael jokes.

There’s no telling where his book will end up next.  It’s a journey that Michael never expected to see but one he is proud to witness.  “I feel so honored that Beth has taken such a liking to my book and is going to such great lengths to promote it.  I love looking at her pictures of the book on its travels.  I feel like I’m on a journey too.  Hopefully the adventure takes us both to the Best Sellers List,” Michael dreams.
